The research on the prevalence of family violence against women from CALD backgrounds is unclear and drawing conclusions on the nature and extent in such communities is therefore difficult. The research does indicate, however, that cultural values and immigration status enhance the complexities normally involved in such cases and prevent women from, firstly, reporting and, secondly, accessing services or assistance relating to family violence.
