Response Options: The participants could choose as many options as relevant to them from a list of 16: 1) brother/sister, 2) community agency (e.g. youth drop in centre, community centre), 3) counsellor, 4) doctor, 5) friend/s, 6) internet, 7) parent/s, 8) relative/family friend, 9) telephone hotline, 10) online counselling website, 11) religious leader, 12) community leader, 13) psychologist, 14) partner (boyfriend/girlfriend), 15) teacher, and 16) none of the above. There was also a 'other (please specify)' option to allow answers beyond the available response options.

Response: 1,759 respondents answered this question.

Results: Participants were most likely to call on friend/s (63.7%) or parent/s (61.2%). Almost half said they would turn to siblings (41.7%) and one-third would go to relatives or family friends (33.8%). One-quarter stated they would ask their partner (boyfriend or girlfriend) for help (25.3%). The participants showed some degree of trust in educational institutions, with one-quarter (25.8%) saying they would go to their teacher for help with important issues. There were lower levels of engagement with other kinds of institutions - only 9.8% said they would go to a religious leader and 5.2% would go to a community leader.
