Explainer Records in Contexts - Compendium: What is it?

Summary

The Records in Contexts - Compendium is a web-based resource designed to document the work of the ICA Experts Group on Archival Description in the development of the Records in Context - Conceptual Model. As well as representing information drawn from the model, the compendium contains higher level groupings to aid analysis and exploration, as well as resources and information regarding the history, context and evolution of the model.

Details

The compendium was created by Gavan McCarthy of the eScholarship Research Centre using an instance of the Online Heritage Resource Manager (OHRM). This tool allows for the mapping and management of highly complex networks of OHRM entities (including people, organisations, concepts, etc.) and the relations between them as well as with descriptive data for related archival resources, published resources and digital objects such as images, audio and video. The data in the OHRM database has been generated as linked HTML pages for a more user friendly expression of the data.

There are currently more than 240 OHRM entities in the Records in Context - Compendium. These OHRM entities have been categorised by type to allow for better groupings and to aid understanding of the information contained within each listing. There are currently 14 OHRM entity types in the compendium. These are: Concepts; Conceptual Model Groups; EGAD Activities; EGAD Organisations; EGAD Outputs; EGAD People; Explainers; Relation Groups; Relation Sets; RiC Attributes; RiC Primary Entities; RiC Relations; RiC Supporting Entities; and Standards.
