Abstract

This research summary reports on how young people aged 15-25 years old from humanitarian backgrounds are
settling in Australia. We use data from the Building a New Life in Australia (BNLA) study, and make reference to the
National Youth Settlement Framework, developed by the Multicultural Youth Advocacy Network (MYAN) Australia.
At November 2016, there were 14,100 young people in Australia who had recently arrived on a humanitarian visa
(Australian Bureau of Statistics [ABS], 2017)
