The sample was asked about their work situation. This is a key economic indicator used to identify how participation in the workforce affects social, economic and cultural outcomes for multicultural young people.

Response Options: The response options included: 1) in a full-time job, 2) in a part-time job, 3) in casual/irregular paid job, 4) looking for work, 5) working for myself, 6) in a number of jobs, 7) doing voluntary work, 8) family/home duties, and 9) not working and NOT looking for work. There was also a 'other (please specify)' option to allow answers beyond the available response options.
Response: 1,565 respondents answered this question.
Results: The sample reflected a range of employment situations and work patterns. Over one-quarter of the sample stated they were looking for work (27.2%). In a separate question, about half stated that they would like to work more hours than they currently do (49.6%).
