This series contains subject files that were arranged alphabetically and stored in the first and second drawers of Peter Dunn's filing cabinet. File contents include correspondence, photographs, publications, drafts, press clippings and other documentary and reference materials relating to Peter Dunn's working life and professional relationships. Representative subjects include: Chemical Trials WWII [World War Two]; Dunn Media Items; Hoenig Visit; Mesothelioma; RACI [Royal Australian Chemical Institute]; University of Tasmania; and UNSCOM [United Nations Special Commission].

The main focus of the material held in this series is chemical weapons, although other aspects of Peter Dunn's professional interests and experience are also in evidence. Copies of Peter Dunn's curriculum vitae are held in this series, as are a number of published obituaries (added to the collection posthumously by Peter's widow, Roma Dunn).

- Correspondence from Keith Isley in regard to a Chemical Warfare Personnel reunion.
- Two news clippings about chemical weapons experimentation in the tropics by Australian forces dated 14/4/90 [1990] and 21 July 1990.
- A photocopy of a publication titled 'The Chemical Warfare Story Of The Royal Australian Air Force 1942 - 1946', by N. S. Stoneman, dated 1990, signed by Keith Isley.

A4 envelope inscribed 'Chemical Weapons / trials in Australia', 'World War II', 'From Keith Isley - Kerang', and 'February 1998'. Contents of the envelope were originally held together by a large metal bulldog clip which was removed at the time of processing for preservation purposes. The papers were rehoused in an archival sleeve. This envelope also houses correspondence from Keith Isley and publications on chemical weapons experimentation by Australian Forces during World War Two. Examples include:
- 'Poison Gas: The Guinea-Pigs Of World War II [2]: Australia's Role' by Bill Soper.
- News clipping titled 'Mustard gas horror: medic breaks silence by Lindsay Simpson.
- Publications from the Department of Defence dated 15 September 1982 titled 'Exposure to Chemical Warfare Gases During World War II [2]- 1939-45[1945]' and a A.M.P [Air Member for Personnel] publication titled 'These people did an excellent job under hazardous conditions’. Suggest letters of commendation and notations on personal records' dated 13 June 1946 as well as accompanying 'decision' under the freedom of information act to release records regarding exposure of veterans and military personnel to chemical weapons during World War Two.

DUNN00483 Morton Bay Incident. August 1983

Contains A4 envelope inscribed 'Morton Bay Incident. August 1983', housing news clippings, photographs, and official correspondence and minutes between the Defence Force and Peter Dunn amongst others regarding the discovery of dumped mustard gas containers in Morton Bay, Queensland, Australia on 28 August 1983. Commentary includes detailed listing of the steps taken in response to the 'incident' as well as a similar incident in the Solomon Islands.

All of the photographs are inscribed on reverse with 'Morton Island 28 Aug [August] 83 [1983]' and an accompanying sentence describing their content.

For preservation purposes, during processing the papers were removed from the envelope.

Contains a report titled 'Australian Field Trials With Mustard Gas 1942 - 1945' by R. G. Gills Ph. D [Doctor of Philosophy], F.R.A.C.I. [Fellow of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute] with a Department of Defence front cover. A single sheet titled 'Australia - Wartime Activities In Chemical Warfare/Chemical Defence' is enclosed in between the first page and front cover of the report. The author's 'active involvement' ceased in early 1984 but other editorial work continued prior to the final presentation of the report. Based on signature and inscription on the first page of report, likely publication date is 1985.
